Good Bowls in good weather were played over the weekend.  Congratulations to Nathan Arlidge and Paul Anderson (s) who won the men's event, defeating Andre Hudson and Nick Tomsett (s) in the final.

In the semi-finals, the Tomsett pair had a tight 13-12 win over the Simons combination, while the Ian Newland pair were the beaten team in the other semi.

Congratulations also to Jacqui Strydom and Noeline Mace (s)  who took out the ladies event over Kath Steiner and Bev Murdoch (s).

This event was concluded over the weekend.

The ladies final was a cliff-hanger with the teams of Chris Topp, Teresa Bones & Carroll Mackie  and Marlene Neems, Alison Reilly, & Mary Thompson all square after 15 ends.  However the Neems team prevailed on the final end scoring a 3 for the victory.

In the men's event, Doug Russell, Sean Armstrong & Kevin Maxfield ran out comfortable 16-6 winners over Hopa Bell, Paul Anderson & Steve Beel.   This is Kevin's 11th Club title, having earned his club gold star (10 wins) when winning the Mixed Pairs earlier in the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES Men's Under 8 Years 30th January 2019

Congratulations to Cliff Webber who defeated Peter Goddard 23-19 in the final played last Friday afternoon.  Peter got off to a 9 -0 start and led 18-10 before losing 5 ends on the trot to trail 20-18 before Cliff closed the game out.

This event was completed over the weekend.  In a Women's preliminary final Gloria Duffin started with two lives and Meredith Pottage with one, Meredith ending up a reasonably comfortable winner.  In the actual final Meredith again emerged the winner to take out the title.  In the mens event Steve Beel jumped out to a good start over John Gray, leading 17-8 after 20 ends.  John found his touch and won the next four ends to lead 18-17 and a real battle to 21 looked in prospect.  However in somewhat of an anti-climax, Steve picked up a four on the 25th end to win the event.   Earlier there was a fascinating game between Steve and Nathan Arlidge with Steve the winner 21-19 over 33 ends.

The Championship Triples were completed over the weekend with some new combinations taking out the titles.  The women's event was won by Linda Ewing, Nita Cowper & Meredith Pottage in a tight low-scoring game (9-6) over Diane Fogarty, Sylvia Motion and Diane Hazelton. The mens event saw Doug Russell, Neil Wilson and Kevin Maxfield emerge comfortable winners over Don Shand, John Simons (L) & John Simons (R).  The Maxfield team was steady throughout but the Simons team was unable to re-produce their earlier good form.  The win gave Neil Wilson his second Club Title for the year, having earlier won the pairs with Steve Beel.
